With over 30 year’s experience of storyboard creation with both animated and live-action features, founder and CEO, animator and director of NEW-GEN, Mr. Matonti has worked alongside Bardel Entertainment (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES, THE ADVENTURES OF PUSS IN BOOTS, RICK AND MORTY, DINO TRUX) to develop concept art based on NEW-GEN’s original characters. Mr. Matonti is collaborating with Showrunner Brent Friedman (STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE, STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS, STAR WARS REBELS) to write the episodes for the series. Matonti will direct and storyboard each episode as part of his visionary storytelling process.
Mr. Matonti recently directed a Previsualization Sneak Peek for NEW-GEN: DEADALUS RISING story concept. This Previs (developed by Persistence of Vision and David Dozoretz, STAR WARS, MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE, STAR TREK) combines revolutionary facial capture technology with Previs animation for the first time.
Mr. Matonti has written and edited the six-issue comic book series NEW-GEN, as well as the five-issue series NEW-GEN: NEW DAWN, which is distributed by Marvel.
Mr. Matonti has experience in all phases of production: story development, production, editing, writing, directing, and producing. Mr. Matonti has directed Mark Hamill (STAR WARS) and Tony Oliver (MIGHTY MORPHIN’ POWER RANGERS) in the NEW-GEN teaser animatic. Previously Matonti directed music videos for top recording artists and directed and produced several live action feature films including the riveting teen thriller LETHAL JUSTICE, LOOSE WOMEN (starring Charlie Sheen, Keith David, Giancarlo Esposito, Robin Strasser and Stephen Lang), MY X-GIRLFRIEND’S WEDDING RECEPTION (starring Dom DeLuise and Deborah Gibson), BOBBY G. CAN’T SWIM (critically acclaimed film that launched the career of actor John-Luke Montias), and the documentary MONEY-DRIVEN MEDICINE (co-produced with Academy Award winner Alex Gibney).
Mr. Matonti received dual degrees from Syracuse University: a Bachelor of Science in Television, Radio, and Film from S.I. Newhouse School, the premiere communications school in the U.S., and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the Crouse-Hinds School of Management.
